No. Description

1 Koo Hteh Moo with wife and child ('Supplementary', page 4)
2 Koo Maw Lay with son and other refugees ('Karenni', page 6)
3 Saw Pah Wah and some of his family ('Supplementary', page 3)
4 Koo Htee Rai and family ('Supplementary', page 6)
5 Naw Hai May and 4 of her 5 children ('Supplementary', pg. 1)
6 Naw Ler Eh and children ('Karenni', page 4)
 7 Same as photo #6
8 Naw Eh Paw and most of her children ('Supplementary', pg. 5)
9 Sai Win Nai, 60 year old Shan porter ('Saw Hta', page 7)
10 Myint Aung, convict porter ('Porter', page 1)
11 Myint Aung (see photo #10) showing wound from a beating with
    a SLORC rifle butt
12 Aik Htun, showing some of his scars from beatings ('Saw
Hta', page 8)
13 Left to right Saw Htoo Lay, Kwa Mu Htoo and Saw Lway Ghay
('Kawmoora'). Kwa Mu Htoo is only 15 years old - he
received the head wound when SLORC fired a grenade launcher
at him and 3 friends as they tried to escape. One of his
friends was killed, the other two are missing presumed dead.
14 Shan porters Sai Kham Pan and Sai Kan Leit ('Saw Hta', page
6). Sai Kan Leit's hip wound was inflicted by a soldier
with a catapult and stone because he was "too slow". Sai Kham
Pan was pushed down onto a rock, cutting his forehead open.
15 Emaciated Shan porter, Saw Hta offensive. He arrived with
body weight only about 90 pounds and suffering from untreated
amoebic dysentery and pneumonia. He soon began vomiting
blood, almost died, and had to be evacuated to hospital. He
survived but is still recovering. He is 28 years old, with
a wife and young child in Shan State.
16 Refugees from SLORC's current Saw Hta offensive, upper
Salween ('Mudraw')
17 See photo #16
18 See photo #16
19 Refugees from the SLORC's current forced relocation campaign
    in Thaton District ('Thaton')
20 See photo #19
21 Porter's corpse found in a pit in late 1992, Hill 491 area
(SLORC-occupied territory in southern Thailand, site of
recent battles between SLORC and the Thai Army). It appears
that the porter had his head beaten in with a rifle butt and
was knocked into the pit. His right hand is still clutching
a stick or piece of cloth which he appears to have grabbed as
he fell.
22 Karen soldier showing suspected chemical weapon burn from
Air Force rocket attack at Naw Deh (Manerplaw area) in
Feb/92. The medics who treated him first noticed that his
upper body had extensive burns but his uniform was intact.
For months he suffered impaired mobility in his upper and
lower body. When this photo was taken in 12/92 his mobility
was almost normal but the burn was still painful and had been
spreading.
