VIGIL TO MARK 'FREE AUNG SAN SUU KYI' DAY
The NCGUB, the Burmese community in the Washington-Virginia-Maryland
area, labor unions, NGOs, human rights organizations and environmental
groups are holding a candle light vigil to memorialize five years of
house arrest for Aung San Suu Kyi on July 20.
Scores are expected at the vigil. Participants will be wearing Aung San
Suu Kyi masks and carrying red banners that demand the release of the
Nobel Peace Laureate.
Dr Sein Win, NCGUB prime minister, will deliver a speech and many floor
speeches of senators and congressmen will be read. Nobel Peace laureates
will release a letter to the SLORC at that event.
More than 10 different organizations will be participating.
