MM: $ 33million for Pagan Restoration

Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cultural Division will donate $ 33 million to
 UNESCO for restoration work of the ancient Pagodas and buildings at Pagan,
 Myanmar.
Over 2,200 Buddhist temples may still be seen in the ruins of Pagan, the first
 unified Burmese Kingdom which flourished for approximately 250 years from the
 middle of 11th to the end of 13th Century, stretching out for about sixty sq.
 kms along the Irrawaddy River.
Ms. Rumiko Kobayashi from the Cultural Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
 said Professor Yukio Nishimura from University of Tokyo, Urban Engineering
 Dept., will leave to Myanmar at the end of July.
The same techniques of the renovation of the Angkor Wat from Cambodia will be
 used in Pagan.
