Subject: New Burma-talk mailing list to be set up
Dear BurmaNet subscribers,
Due to the volume of mail now going over the BurmaNet mailing list,
some changes appear necessary if it is not to choke in excess traffic.
Within the next week or so, I'll have a new mailing list set up which
will carry discussion about Burma, as opposed to hard news. The new
list will be open to all BurmaNet subscribers and anyone will be able
to post to it. Once it is on-line, the BurmaNet mailing list will
shift to a moderated form. In practice, it will mean that any postings
to the entire BurmaNet mailing list will have to be approved by the
moderator.
The reason for making the split is primarily to accomodate those who
want information about Burma, but do not want to be deluged in email.
They will be able to receive the moderated mailings, which will amount
to one message per day, but not have to read any other discussion.
Those who want completely unfiltered information about Burma can
receive both lists.
