Boarder Refugee Update

The following information was received, by telephone tonight, from my source 
living near Mae Sot.

Refugee's in Thailand fear attacks from DKBA/SLORC
-------------------------------------------------- 
About two weeks ago, DKBA/SLORC soldiers killed two refugee's from Bonal
camp, located in Thailand 150 Km north of Mae Sot. Some of the troops were
recognised as former KNU soldiers. The unrecognised soldiers are believed
to be SLORC troops posing as DKBA. 

The DKBA/SLORC soldiers threatened that they would kill the rest of the 
refugee's in five days if they did not return to Burma.

Thai troops are now guarding all the camps in the area and no more
attempts have been made by DKBA/SLORC. But the refugee's are afraid to
speak openly for fear of spies. 

Many refugee's in camps are receiving letters requesting that they return 
to their families in Burma. They are told that everything is OK, and that 
SLORC will no longer harm them. 

Some refugee's in camps right on the boarder, like Kler Ko, are sleeping 
in the jungle.

Man murdered in Thai village.

A Thai/Karen man was murdered last week in his home at Mae Oo Su village, by 
DKBA/SLORC troops. 

Mae Oo Su is located about 90 Km north of Mae Sot in Thailand, and is the 
45 minutes walk from Kler Ko refugee camp. Kler Ko now patrols the camp 
24hrs per day although they have no weapons if they attacked.

His home was then ransacked and his livestock killed.
