                                       Urgent Release

                                                                   Date: 15th
March 1995

On March 7, 1995, there was a clash between the Slorc and KNLA battallion No
10 troops at Kan Bauk township of Tenessarian division. The fighting started
on 10 AM just after three military helicopters descended to the ground, and
died down at 11:00 AM.

According to the border sources, French technicians, Burmese technicians and
a Slorc military strategist of Southern regional command arrived there by
three military helicopters.

Border sources said that there was a little demage to the helicopters but
five persons died and eleven injured. Among five, two died on the spot and
three died later.

According to the inside sources, the bodies and injured persons were not sent
to the nearest Tavoy general hospital but Slorc ordered the Tavoy hospital
incharge doctor to come and treate the wounded. They order the emergency
medicines including bandages and cotton wool from Rangoon. The bags for
bodies were also ordered from Rangoon immediately.

Sources from Rangoon said that the dead bodies were sent to military area of
the Mingaladon airport in Rangoon (not to the normal civilian passenger one).
In the airport Mr. Herbico of TOTAL Co. came and received the bodies.

Border sources said that three technicians from the TOTAL of France died
there. But the Bangkok sources say that only one Franch technician expired in
the incident.

This information is blacked out by the Slorc and TOTAL Co., as they seriously
worry about it which would effect the investment in Burma.
