Empowering Women in the Global South is the pivotal issue facing humanity
on the eve of the 21st century. Women and women's organizations have played
a crucial role in raising world consciousness on environment, human rights,
and social development. The Center for the Study of the Global South,
seeking to contribute to the preparations for the Fourth World Conference on
Women in Beijing, China in Septemeber 1995, is sponsoring a two-day
conference.
This conference, following in the footsteps of the World Summit for Social
Development held in Copenhagen in March 1995, will include an assessment of
the Summit's results as they relate to women's issues in the Global South.

Impacts of Structural Change from the Global to the Local Level

Health Issues
Violence Against Women from a Human Rights Perspective
