Dear Burmanet,

We are piqued to find at the end of the net news the claim
"Typed by the Research Department of the ABSDF
{MTZ}," when there are items that we ourselves put on.
We don't feel it is necessary to give ourselves credit but we
don't want MTZ and company to take credit for our
postings. From now on do we need to add typed by BRC -
J or scanned by scanjet? When postings are from news
sources, why is it necessary to mention who typed them,
except to apologize for an inordinate number of typos?

That leads us to another query. Hasn't the volume of news
from the Bkk Post and the Nation dropped recently? What
are we missing? Do the typists of MTZ need
supplementing?

That leads us to a final observation. Today we read a very
pointed and articulate opinion on the net with no attribution
whatsoever. Luckily we had just read an abridged version
of this same opinion on the editorial page of The Japan
Times, where it was properly attributed to The Nation of
October 4. All news and editorial comments need to be
clearly identified so that we can accurately quote our
sources. If nothing further is specififed, shouldn't we be
able to assume they were written by the same people who
posted them?

Thanks very much for considering these issues.

Ken and Visakha Kawasaki
