S.H.A.N : KHUN SA WEEPS OVER A GIFT FROM KHIN NYUNT

On March 22-23, 1996, Khun Sa's chief cook, Lieutenant Ngo, who accompanied Khun
Sa to Rangoon came back in Ho Murng to fetch construction workers to build Khun
Sa's new house in Rangoon. Khun Sa was said to be staying at a house allocated
by SLORC on the Inya Road, and not very far from Ne Win's and Aung San Suu Kyi's
houses. Until now, Khun Sa has not been tried for any drug involvement, but is
living in good health and in peace.

Not long after his arrival in Rangoon, Secretary 1 of SLORC Lt. Gen. Khin Nyunt
sent him a present consisting of a complete suit of the best quality Burmese
attire : a long sarong, a collarless jacket and a turban. ( There is still no
news about any of the high-ranking SLORC officials visiting him so far. )

After he received the present, and the SLORC middle-ranking officials who
brought it had left, Khun Sa tried it on, and , with tears running down his
cheek, he cried, " No, I won't wear this. Put it away. Just bring my Shan
cloths. "

If this piece of news happens to be true, Khun Sa is indeed pitiful. But, if one
were to suspect him of playing games, one would have to admit that he is an
excellent actor.

Until now, SLORC troops in Ho Murng have never touched any of Khun Sa's many
grand houses which he has at the Three Seasons Flower Recreation Park, at Ho Nar
quarter and at Murng Mai southern quarter. They are still being looked after by
Khun Sa's men and servants.
