US Warns Burma Travellers

US WARNS OF BURMA TRAVELLING

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The State Department recommended Thursday that
Americans exercise due caution while traveling in Burma and consider
curtailing nonessential travel for the time being.
The recommendation was issued because of concern about recent repressive
actions by Burmese authorities and the potential for violence, department
spokesman Nicholas Burns said.
Nearly 200 pro-democracy activists have been arrested during the past
few days.
"The United States renews its call for a meaningful political dialogue
between the Burmese authorities and the democratic opposition leaders and
representatives of ethnic groups," Burns said.
He said there is no other solution to Burma's crisis.
