Good News from France :DAASK stil front page lead news
Tuesday, June 25 1996
Libération today ran a front page photo and cover interview story of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi for a two-page inside lead saying: Burma : Days of defiance in Rangoon. Each weekend, thousands of Burmese people defy the junta in the Burmese capital to come to listen to dissident Aung San Suu Kyi, winner of the 1991Nobel Peace Prize. The story runs next to another story with a feature photo of sexually promiscuous Roman fresques discovered in the ruins of Pompei. Ah, neither the French, nor the Romans , are famous for their sexual conservatism.

The French story on Burma will be translated and published by Euro-Burmanet.
There is an anecdotal reference to TOTAL, when asked by the interviewer, (Roman Franklin), to comment on the French energy multinational's denial of that it profits by the use of forced labor on its Yadana pipeline project:

DAASK: To simply explain things, I consider that that kind of investment contributes directly to supporting and keeping in place themilitary regime.
