RANGOON: Burma's military junta has accused the country's
pro-democracy leader, Ms Aung San Suu Kyi, of collaborating with subversives.

Apparently it was setting the scene, diplomats in Rangoon said,
for moving against the Nobel peace laureate when it felt the moment was
right.

Colonel Kyaw Thein, a military intelligence officer, told a press
conference held by the ruling State Law and Order Restoration Council
that Ms Suu Kyi who was released last July from six years of house
arrest, and other members of her political party, the National League for
Democracy (NLD), had accepted subversives materials and conspired with
outlawed parties composed of expatriate Burmese citizens.

They included an exil group based in Washington and 19 members of
her party recently arrested for contact with exiled Burmese in India.
Western envoys say they cannot rule out the re-arrest of Ms Suu Kyi.
