BURMANET: SLORC TROOPS ENTER AUNG SAN SUU KYI'S COMPOUND
September 27, 1996. 2:30am EST.

According to sources in Rangoon, Burmese military or police personnel
have entered Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's compound.  According
to the source, some 200 troops entered the compound just
over an hour ago.  Daw Suu and a large number of NLD delegates
are in the compound for a meeting of the NLD.  An unconfirmed
report indicates that the NLD may have been preparing to
endorse a democratic constitution.  BurmaNet has no
word yet on whether anyone has been arrested but the
street in front of the compound has been blocked.
