U.S. senator McCain meets Gen. Khin Nyunt, Suu Kyi

     U.S. Senator John McCain on Sunday called on Lt. Gen. Khin Nyunt, 
Secretary of the ruling State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC), 
at the Defense Ministry and met later with pro-democracy leader Aung San 
Suu Kyi, sources close to the senator said.

     McCain, a Republican from the state of Arizona, arrived on a special 
plane Sunday morning and called on Khin Nyunt soon after his arrival.
