Daw Suu Could Not Turn Up to Meet Supporters 
Kyodo News, Dec. 1,1996. 
    Myanmar (Burma) pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi failed to meet 
supporters at a road junction Sunday amid the weekly blockade of roads 
leading to her home by the country's ruling junta.
     Some 400 to 500 people, who came to the road junction apparently to 
see Suu Kyi, dispersed peacefully Sunday evening when she did not turn up.
