Some Japanese companies have increased their investments in
Myanmar. They include Nissan Motors, Mitsubishi Motors, Mitsui
Engineering and Shipbuilding and Marubeni. Both Nissan and Mitsubishi
will set up dealerships for cars and pick-up trucks.
Mitsui will build a shipyard while Marubeni is involved in oil and
teak trade and airport construction. Marubeni is involved in oil and
teak trade and airport construction. Marubeni is the largest Japanese
investor in Myanmar. Japan's Ministry of Trade and Industry plans to do
a joint study on Myanmar's industrial and investment potential.
