EU Union support for OCAW/Unocal pr

Subject: EU Union support for OCAW/Unocal protest

The EU decision against GSP for Slorc presents an opportunity following
up this posting by <gijsh@xxxxxxxxx (Gijs Hillenius> to forward an
initiative -- if it is not already in the process of realisation, that
the UNOCAL- OCAW obtains the support of the International Confederation
of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and the European Tradeunions for the OCAW 3
Days for Burma protest against the UNOCAL/TOTAL pipeline.

This is most badly needed to pressure the French government to rethink
its support for the TOTAL pipeline (the French state is over a 10 %
shareholder.

Support from union groups in other European countries to the OCAW
initiative should now be enlisted and confirmed. If anyone is working on
this, they should of course, if not already, be in touch with
joe drexler, special projects director, ocaw, <umwajd@xxxxxxx>, and
please forward progress reports here, to paris.

The TOTAL SA Paris headquarters' annual shareholder meeting will take
place late May. It has been moved up since last year's June 4 meeting
when TOTAL's role in the pipeline tragedy was openly exposed and
challenged by EuroBurmanet.
