Malaysia
fax No. : 603-232-9227

Dear Mr. Acting Prime Minister,

It is widely known that Burma?s military regime will be officially allowed
to be one of the member states of ASEAN at the ASEAN meeting tomorrow.
Due to its continued violation of Human rights and severe repression of the
democratic opposing forces, punitive actions were taken by western
countries and United States of America. Recently 316 MPs and Senior
organisers of National League for Democracy were detained and arrested on
their way to the NLD conference commemorating the 7th anniversary of 1990
election victory of the opposition. The military Generals ruling Burma
cannot be persuaded gently as you think because they don?t care about
anything rather than for their own sake. Admission of Burma into ASEAN is
recognising legality of the illegal government that is likely to embolden
its repressive behaviour. Looking back through the years of its reign, you
will only see that there is no intention of paving the way to Democracy but
crackdown on the democratic opposition forces. Burma should not be treated
as a normal country. The military regime of Burma is a handful group of
power hungry scoundrels who do not know how to honour even their own deed.
If you decide to accept it as a member state, the credibility of your
country and ASEAN as a whole will be tarnished and damaged. At this
threshold of your decision, We request you to defer your decision until the
legally elected government i.e. the winning National League for Democracy,
can be brought in.

Yours sincerely,

Aye Kyaw
