SUU KYI ACTIVISTS SET FOR TALKS (r)

Dear Mr. Horn,

Your article, most especially the quote from Aung Zaw, contributed to
SLORC's scoring "some public relations points".

How else does SLORC score "public relations points" escept by "looking good"
viz. "appearances." Please note that I did not say ONLY appearances.
Little things like "appearances" mean a lot in this struggle.

Unfortunately Daw Suu and the NLD aren't able to really take part in an
"open debate" so they are extremely vulnerable to what appear to be
"personal attacks" depicting them as arrogant, stubborn, ineffectual, or
incompetent.

Was "ample space ... given in that story to contrary opinions and analysis."?

It is hardly surprising that the quote from Aung Zaw has drawn sharp
criticism. He shouldn't have said it. If he, as a was misquoted, he
deserves an apology from you or the newspaper that combined two articles
badly and misquoted him in the process.
