(1)		Myanmar Flag Hoisted at Senayan Athlete Village

		The national flag of Myanmar was hoisted first at Senayan Athlete Village
in Jakarta, Indonesia as its sports contingent was the first to arrive at the
ceremony to hoist the national flags of ten participating national teams.
Mayor of Senayan Athlete Village Mr Hambali spoke at the ceremony which was
held at the village on 8 October. He said he was honoured to see the first
hoisting of Myanmar national flag by Myanmar Contingent, it is learnt.

(2)		Minister Leaves to Attend 11th World Forestry Conference

		Myanmar delegation led by Minister for Forestry Lt-Gen Chit Swe left Yangon
by air for Turkey on 9 October to attend the 11th World Forestry Conference
to be held there from 13 to 22 October.

(3)		Opium Seized in Mandalay

		Two passengers on Naba-Myitkyina train were arrested for possession of
2.121 kilos of opium at 11 pm on 9 September at Pinbaw Railway Station.
Action has been taken against the two traffickers Similarly, three passengers
of Mandalay-Myitkyina train were arrested for possession of 3.591 kilos of
opium at Mandalay Railway Station at 7 pm on 11 September. Action has been
taken against the three drug traffickers as well.

(4)		CSO D-G Leaves for Indonesia

		Director-General of the Central Statistical Organization of the Ministry of
National Planning and Economic Development and Director left Yangon by air
for Jakarta on 8 October to attend the Meeting of ASEAN Heads of Statistical
Officers on 9 and 10 October. The meeting will focus on 
compilation of ASEAN members? statistics, selection of economic indicators, 
publicizing the statistics and internet communications.

(5)		Automatic Land Surveying Explained
		Topcon Singapore and Concordia International Limited of Myanmar on 9
October jointly presented automatic land surveying using Total Stations (GTS)
and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).  Total Stations (GTS) and Global
Positioning Systems (GPS) are being used in Myanmar?s survey, construction
and mineral exploration on large scale.
