(1)		Secretary-1 Attended Opening Ceremony of Myanmar 
		International Terminal Thilawa (MITT)
 
		The opening ceremony of Myanmar International Terminal Thilawa (MITT) was
held at the Terminal Thilawa in Kyauktan Township at 3:45 pm on 9 November
attended by Secretary-1 of the State Law and Order Restoration Council Lt-Gen
Khin Nyunt. Myanmar International Terminal Thilawa (MITT) was constructed
under BOT agreement reached with Myanma Port Authority of the Ministry of
Transport. First, Minister Lt-Gen Thein Win spoke on the occasion. Then, Mr
John Meredith thanked the officials. Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, Minister
Lt-Gen Thein Win and Mr John Meredith formally opened the MITT. The
Secretary-1, the ministers and guests inspected handling of cargo from mv
Bago with the use of quay cranes. Four ocean liners can moor simultaneously
at the terminal capable of handling one million containers yearly. The
Thilawa Terminal has the area of 185 acres (75 hectares) and ocean liners
with draughts ranging from 10 to 12.5 metres can berth at the terminal. Quay
crane, yard cranes, front loaders, forklifts, tractors ad trailers are in
operation at the terminal.
 
(2)		S-E Commander Meets Commander of No 3 Military Region of Royal Thai Army
in Myawady
 
		Commander of South-East Command Maj-Gen Ket Sein arrived in Myawady on 4
November. The Commander together with Commander of No 33 LID Brig-Gen Thura
Aye Myint and officials went to Myanmar-Thai border Friendship Bridge and met
senior military officers led by Commander of No 3 Military region of Royal
Thai Army Lt-Gen Thanom Wancharamut on the bridge. They discussed development
of border trade, tranquillity and development in border area at Bayintnaung
Yeiktha. The two commanders had lunch at Thaungyin Hall in Myawady.
 
(3)		118 KNU Members Swap Arms for Peace in Thandaung
 
		With the aim of building a peaceful, modern and developed nation, the State
Law and Order Restoration Council is implementing the 12 political, economic
and social objectives and extending warm welcome to those who swap arms for
peace with open mind for national reconsolidation. Realizing that their
years-long destructive acts do not benefit the nation and understanding the
Government's goodwill and commitment for national development, members of the
armed groups have been exchanging arms for peace individually or in groups.
Altogether 118 members of KNU (Kayin National Union) armed group led by
leader of Thandaung Township special unit major Saw Phe Re Mo (a) Saw Ar Di
and deputy company commander of No 3 company of No 2 brigade Saw Gwe Hmu
swapped arms for peace together with 124 family members, bringing in 33
assorted arms, 5,240 rounds of ammunition and 38 assorted mines at Leiktho
Military camp in Thandaung Township on 8 November. 
 
(4)		Information Delegation Arrives Back from Singapore
 
		The information delegation led by Director (News) U Hla Tun of News and
Periodicals Enterprise under the Ministry of Information arrived back Yangon
by air on 9 November after attending the Third Workshop in Information
Management for ASEAN Public Affairs Information Officers in Singapore from 27
October to 8 November.
