(1)		National Convention Convening Commission Meets
 
		National Convention Convening Commission held a meeting at the commission
office on 21 November. Officials of National Convention Convening Work
Committee and National Convention Convening Management Committee submitted
reports on the National Convention. NCCC members gave suggestions on the
reports.
 
(2)		10 Members, Families of 6th KNU Brigade, Exchange Arms for 	Peace
 
		Altogether 19 members including 10 members of No 6th brigade of KNU armed
group and nine family members led by U Saw Pan Aye, exchanged arms for peace
at the unit of Commander of Tactical Operations Command Col Han Tint, Kyeik
Village of Kya-Inn-Seikkyi Township, on 18 November. A ceremony to exchange
arms for peace was held at the compound of the monastery of Kyeik Village,
Kya-Inn-Seikkyi Township, on 19 November morning. There are 16 armed groups
except KNU, which exchanged arms for peace. It is learnt that there are still
more members of armed groups to exchange arms for peace.
 
(3)		7th Gems and Jade Sale of UMEHL
 
		The seventh Gems and Jade sale of the Union of Myanmar Economic Holdings
Ltd took place at Gems Emporium Hall on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road on 21 November.
Two hundreds and eighty-six lots of gems with a floor price of K 461.88
million and US $ 1.74 million and 229 lots of jade with a floor price of US $
3.068 million are being put on display 336 gem merchants including 327
foreign merchants came and viewed it today. The gem and 	jade lots will be
displayed till 5 pm on 25 November and be sold through bargain system and
auction on 26 and 27 November. It will start at 9 am on 26 November.
 
(4)		Opium Seized in Phekhon
 
		A combined team of members of Defence Services Intelligence, Myanmar Police
Force and Ward Peace and Development Council, acting on a tip-off, searched a
godown in Zayanauk Ward, Phekhon, on 6 November morning. The authorities
seized 26.128 kilos of opium from the godown belonging to U Nay Win, of
Nyaunggon 2 Ward. They arrested the owners of the opium. Action has been
taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
 
OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 21 NOVEMBER
 
(A)		Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin
received Joint Managing Director of Kedah Cement Holdings Berhad of Malaysia
Dr Khalid Ngah and party at his office.
 
(B)		Minister for National Planning and Economic Development Brig-Gen Abel
received the 18-member Japanese business group led by Mr Saburo Ogawara of
Daiwa Institute of Research paid a courtesy at his office.
