(1)		Shoppers throng Cooperative Fair (Mandalay)
		The Cooperative Fair (Mandalay) continued for the fourth day at new Thiri
Mandala Market in Aungmyaythazan Township on 28 January. The fair drew large
number of visitors and Jade Producers Cooperatives Societies, Kachin State,
Bago Division, Mandalay Cooperatives Syndicate and Taninthayi Division
Cooperatives Societies sold ornaments, forest products, regional products,
handicrafts and marine products. Nearly 200,000 people including tourists
visited the fair. Two billion kyats have been realized through contract, K
3.268 billion through cooperative export import enterprise and K 15.8 million
from the private shops.
 
(2)		Eight Members of Armed Groups Exchange Arms for Peace
		Lt. San Phe and Sergeant Tin Win of No 3 Company, No11 Battalion of KNU
armed group, exchanged arms for peace in Taninthayi Township on 3 January.
Commanding Officer Sai Nyunt and members Sai Lyan (a) Sai Ywet, Sai Than, Sai
Lok, Sai La and Aik San of No 4 Battalion, Ywet Sit group of remaining MTA and
SURA armed groups exchanged arms for peace in Tachilek Township on 13 January.
Officers of respective military camps welcomed them warmly and attended to the
needs.
 
(3)		Talks on ISO 9000 Quality Management
		A talk on ISO 9000 Quality Management, co-sponsored by Myanmar Industrial
Producers Association and Myanmar Computer Company Limited, was held at the
office of the Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Association on 28
January.
 
(4)		(2) Refineries Seized
		On 25 of January in North East Shan State a military patrol and drug
traffickers encountered a shoot out near a village called Mahn Kalaun. In the
ensuing battle (1) military official was wounded while (6) traffickers were
caught dead and (2) mobile refineries seized. From the refineries (122) kilos
of Heroin, (75) kilos of raw opium, other chemiucals and parapherralia were
also seized, it is learnt.
 
OFFICE CALL IN YANGON ON 28 JANUARY
		Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt.Gen Khin Nyunt
received Director of Regional Bureau for Asia and Pacific of United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mr F Fouinat and party at Dagon Yeiktha
of the Ministry of Defence.
