 (1)		UNDCP Mission to Draft 10-Year Project for Elimination of Poppy
Cultivation
		The nine-member mission led by Project Planning Senior Consultant Mr John
Leake of the UNDCP, who are currently here to draft a 10-year project for
elimination of poppy cultivation and development of opium substitution
undertakings in Myanmar, held discussions with officials of the respective
ministries at the Myanmar Police Force office on 23 March. The meeting was
organized prior to their study trip to draft up the project. Secretary of the
Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control MPF Director-General Police Maj-Gen
Soe Win said the mission's visit is a constructive step in the endeavours for
elimination of poppy cultivation in Myanmar.
(2)		National Convention Convening Commission Meets
		The National Convention Convening Commission held a meeting at the
Commission Office on 23 March. The National Convention Convening Work
Committee and the National Convention Convening Management Committee presented
reports pertaining to the National Convention followed by a general round of
discussions.

received Opposition Social Democratic Party (SPD) Dr Klaus Kubler of the
Federal Republic of Germany at Dagon Yeiktha  of the Ministry of Defence.
 (B)		Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin
received General Manager of Mitsui & Co Ltd Mr Susumu Takaku and party at his
office.
(C)		Deputy Prime Minister Lt-Gen Tin Tun received Executive Chairman of
Hasting Pty Ltd Mr Paul Mazark and Director Mr Grant Brown at his office.
(D)		Minister for Hotels and Tourism received President Director of ATEJA
furnishing and Contract Fabrics Manufacture Subianto Tjandra at his office.
(E)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung Maung received
Chairman of Daewoo Limited Mr Gil Yong Um at Myanmar Investment Commission
Office. They discussed investment matters being undertaken .
(F)		Minister of Industry-1 received Chairman of the Statcon Rubber Company
Ltd Mr TJ Weeratunge and party of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri
Lanka at his office.
