The Meeting Between Burmese Student




The Burmese Students Met with Mr. George Fernendes,
Union Defense Minister of India.
 
On April 4, 1998 at 12 PM, Burmese students were cordially 
accepted by Mr. George Fernendes, union defense minister 
of India at Raj Bhavan in Imphal. The delegate included 
Ko Than Khe and Ko Moe Zaw from All Burma Students' 
Democratic Front (Western Burma) and Ko Nyo and 
Ko Aye Ko from All Burma Students League. The meeting 
was lasted 25 minutes. The minister was presented a 
memorandum and a Burma Prospect News bulletin published 
from All Burma Students' Democratic Front (Western Burma).
 
The Burmese students proposed to the defense minister followings:
 
1. To accelerate the Satyagraha which was initiated in October 1997 in
Moreh for 
prevention of the drugs trafficking from Burma into India.
2. To raise the grass root campaign in India for the democratic struggle
of Burmese People.
3. To initiate the concerted policy of the Samata Party and
4. To lay down the concerted and succinct policy of India for
democratizing process in Burma.
 
Along with the Burmese students' delegate, Mr. O Joy Singh, president of
Manipur 
People Party and Dr. Kailash of Manipur University from the Friends of
Burma also participated in the meeting.
 
On April 3, 1998 when minister was inspecting the Indo-Burma border
situation in 
Moreh, Dr Aung Kyaw Oo from ABSDF (WB) and Ko Myo Myint Aung from ABSL, 
also, met and discussed with him. They (Burmese students) explained the
democratic issues of Burma and the involvement of the State Peace and
Development Council of Burma in drug production.
