It is a sad thing, but the prospect for change in Burma is very bleak.
Although Gen. Than Shwe has said those same words several times, there is no
indications of any follow up with either a dialogue with NLD or a good go
between like the UN or maybe even the Carter Foundation.

I understand that the country (the people) are in dire straits. The downturn
in the Asian Economies are compounding the problems for Burma. Hopefully, the
current leaders (SPDC), if they have any "heart" at all, will not wait for
catastrophy before changing direction.
