(1)		Sinbyushin Bridge Project Moving Ahead as Planned 
		The  Sinbyushin bridge  spanning Chindwin River will link ChaungU in Sagaing
Division and Yesagyo Township in Magway Division. The main structure of  the
rail and road bridge will be supported by reinforced concrete pillars and the
approach structures by prestressed concrete columns.  The main structure of
the 4,956-foot long bridge will be built by Public Works and the approach
structures and the roads by Myanmar Railways.  The bridge is to be completed
in August 1999.

(2)		Preparations Under way to host Food and Agriculture Organization?s
Regional Conference for Asia and Pacific in Yangon
		Patron of the Central Committee for Organizing the Food and Agriculture
Organization?s 24th Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific Secretary-1
of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt on 15 April
inspected preparations for holding the conference at Sedona Hotel in Yangon.
Myanmar will host the conference at Sedona Hotel from 20 to 24 April.
Ministers for Agriculture and high-level officials of 34 countries are to
attend.

(3)		C-in-C of Royal Thai Army Takes Part in Myanmar Thingyan Festival 
		At the invitation of Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council
Chief of Strategic Studies,  Commander-in -Chief of Royal Thai Army General
Chetta Thananjaro and wife and party arrived Yangon on 14 April morning and
left Yangon by special flight in the evening.

(4)		Nine Armed Group members Exchange Arms for Peace in Taninthayi

		The nine-member armed group led by platoon commander Oh Soe of No. 3
Company, No. 11 Battalion, of KNU armed group, exchanged arms for peace at
Taninthayi camp at 9 am on 12 April.  Armed groups are exchanging arms for
peace individually or group wise, it is learnt.

(5)		State-Run Cinemas to be Sold by Competitive Bidding
		36 State-run cinemas will be sold through  competitive bidding under the
resolution of meeting 1/98 of the privitization Commission held on 6 April
1998.  The cinemas will be sold through biddings based on reserve price.  They
include land, building, projectors, telephone and power metre ( if any ). More
