ABSDO actions for 36 anni. of 7th J

All Burma Student's Democratic Organization ( Australia)
Media Release for 35th anniversary of 7 July student movement in Australia
Burmese Students and their supporters will mark the 35th anniversary of 7th
July
the students struggle against the military rule in 1962, which was the first
protest against the current military dictatorship, by a blood donation and
staging a protest at the Burmese military office ( ' Burmese Embassy') in
Canberra on 7th and 8th of August 1998.
These actions are to honor the fallen heroes of 7th and 8th July movement
where hundreds of students were killed in the protest against the military
regime and many students were blown away when the troops sabotaged the
student union building.

These actions has also been called to show support for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
, students and pro-democracy forces in Burma , as the recent political
confrontation between Pro-democracy forces and the military regime escalated
since Daw Aung San Suu Kyi set the dead line of two months to convene a
sitting of National Parliament.
We, members of All Burma Student's Democratic Organization ( Australia),
believe that the general sentiment of Burmese people at the moment is
similar to that of 1988 when people were frustrated and outraged with the
political suppression , backward economy, severe shortages of basic
necessities, and a lack of freedom.
The protest will call for international community and student around the
world to show their solidarity with people and democracy activists in Burma.
We believe it is time to show our strongest support to those fighting
against the military regime in Burma we know people will eventually fight
for human rights rather than allow the movement to fade away.
