PROTEST AGAINST THE TYRANNY OF S.P.D.C  AND THE MEMORY OF THE 7TH JULY
AT IN FRONT OF BURMESE EMBASSY LED BY A.B.S.D.O

On 8th july ,1998, a group of Burmese students , community and their
supporter, led by the All Burma Students' Democratic Organization, hold
a 30 minute sit-in demonstration in front of Burmese embassy ,at
Canberra, Australia.

About 70 people ,including Representative of NLD (LA), Australia Mon
Association, and Resistance Solidarity Group (australian Organization),
were attended . As a speaker, Ko Toe Toe, (president, A.B.S.D.O), Ko
Maung Maung Than (spoke person)  ,Dr Aye Kyaw (president NLD.LA), Ko
Banya (Freedom Fighter) ,Naing Phay Thein Zan ( leader, Australia Mon
Association) ,and Mr. Dave (Social Youth Organization) are strongly
denounced the all illegal activities of  S.P.D.C and Australian
Government, which is lack of action against the regime.
And they march to the Thai embassy with singings students revolutionary
songs and shouting the democracy slogan. At the Thai embassy, the group
condemn the Thai  policy  on Burmese students, dissidents, and ethnic
refugee , and they hand over the protest letter to the embassy.
After that, they went to the Federal parliament, and hand over the
protest letter to the senate and the ministry of foreign affairs, and
demanding economic sanction against Burma.

Secretary of ABSDO, Ye  Myint Tun, read out the statement ,demanding the

Australian government to enforce economic sanction against Burma and all

possible way to put pressure on military regime.
Parpa, master of ceremony, went into the parliament to hand in the
protest letter.

They demand SPDC  to hold national parliament within two month, To free
student leader Min Ko Naing and all political prisoners, and to get the
dialogue as soon as possible with Daw Aung Sann Suu Kyi.

The aim of  demonstration is to condemn the tyranny of military dictator

Ne Win, who ordered to shot dead all university students who involved
non-violence peaceful demonstration , and to dynamic the historic
Students Union Building, on the 7th of July, 1962. The present regime,
known as SPDC,  which is  devoted to Ne Win-ism, is continuing to show
the
world that how much they brutalized it own people. After world most
infamous crack down it own people in August of 1988, they are still
continuing to hold the power, with the help of ASEAN and China.

ABSDO will organize the further action as follow:
1, Protest against tourism in Sydney on 3rd of August
2, On 7th of august , protest against SPDC in Canberra
3, Protest and support action to convene national parliament within 2
month
4, On 18th September,1998 protest and commemoration of military crack
down  in Canberra
