Concern over welfare of Suu Kyi

There's increasing international concern over the welfare of the Burmese
pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who's now spending a fifth night in
her car at a military checkpoint outside Rangoon.

Local reports say she's run out of food and water; but a military ambulance
is on hand, and she's been seen by her doctor.

Party officials say Aung San Suu Kyi is determined to stay until the
military authorities accept she is free to travel across Burma to meet
party workers.

Britain and the United States are among countries expressing concern at the
stalemate.
