1.	Yesterday (29-7-98) at 20:50 hours, the authorities rudely and
forcefully removed Daw San Suu Kyi, General Secretary of the National
League for Democracy, a member of the Central Executice Committee of the
NLD and her party from the spot near the village of Anyarsu and Pandaing
where they had been blockaded and prevented from proceeding on their
journey. With a show of strength, a security unit pushed and shoved them
into their own motor vehicles against their will and wishes of the General
Secretary who was driven back to her residence. Without her permission, one
of the security men drove her private car back to her house.

2. The member of the Central Executive Committee and the other two members
of the party were also pushed and shoved into other motor vehicles without
their consent. Representatives of the authorities and members of the
security forces accompanied the party in the respevtive motor vehicles.

3.	The barbarous, uncivil and churlish behaviour of the authorities in
dealing with the situation is strongly condemned by the National League for
Democracy and will be remembered as a shameful and disgraceful means of
claiming victory.
