US oil company to pull out of Burma 

The American oil company, Arco Atlantic Richfield Co. has said that its
decision to withdraw from Burma, announced on Tuesday, was for economic
reasons, not because of pressure from human rights groups. 
A spokesman for the company Al Greenstein said operations would cease in
October, because the natural gas reserves Arco has been investigating are
not thought to be large enough. 
Arco's withdrawal leaves only one major US gas company still operating in
Burma, Unocal Corporation.
