Freed foreign activists arrive in Bangkok from Yangon

BANGKOK, Aug 16 (AFP) - Eighteen foreign activists arrived in Bangkok
Saturday after being deported from Myanmar for allegedly attempting to
incite unrest there.

A Myanmar court Friday sentenced each to five years imprisonment with hard
labour but junta officials intervened and said they should be expelled for
the sake of relations with their home countries.

The activists were holding a press conference at Bangkok airport after
arriving.
