Cooperation Committee and Comrades in Action,


1. Since the demand made by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the NLD for
convening of parliament by the 21st of August is done in accordance with
the wishes of the voters, people from all walks of life, and the urgency
of the current situation, it is a legitimate and correct demand. Unitedly
assist and struggle together with Daw Suu.


2. Your struggle is a noble and correct one. Accordingly, the        =20
NCUB earnestly support, honor and  encourage you.


3. We, the NCUB, affirm our determination to struggle on until we gain
our objectives of abolishment of the rule of military dictatorship,
peace, democracy, the establishment of a federal union.

<center><bold>Statement of NCUB Emergency Meeting

</bold></center>

=AB An emergency joint meeting of the NCUB Presidium and Secretariat was
held from 18-8-98 to 19-8-98 at the headquarters in the liberated area.
At the meeting, the latest developments in the situation were analyzed in
depth.


1. Since the demand of the NLD to convene parliament by 21-8-98 is not
only in consonant with the wishes of the voters, the people from all
walks of life, but also with the current political and economic needs,
we, the NCUB, earnestly support the demand and will cooperate for it.


2. The NCUB believes that it is necessary for the meeting between NLD
Chairman U Aung Shwe and SPDC Secretary (1) should be an initiation of
meaningful dialogue for the resolution of political problems of the
country by political means. We strongly urge the SPDC to make it happen
that way.


3. We commend and support the heroic act of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
struggling gallantly, in the interest of the people and with much
sacrifice, against the SPDC military leaders, and condemn the SPDC
military leaders barring unjustly the way of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, as it
is taking place now.


4. The NCUB would like to earnestly urge the people, comprising of
various nationalities, the political parties representing them and the
patriots to valiantly and whole-heartedly support the current action of
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the NLD, to unitedly support Daw Suu and
struggle resolutely together with Daw Suu.=20
