Joint Statment

Joint Statement of this Hunger Strike for democratic parliament

Date: 22nd Aug 98.

We hereby denounce Burmese regime, (State peace and development council)
for ignoring the demand to convene parliament that is made by NLD party,
which won more than 80 percent of the total vote in 1990 election. Because
that demand represent the willing of all people in Burma.

We absolutely support NLD's yesterday announcement to convene democratic
parliament itself with elected representatives of the people. We believe
that this is the only and the best way to restore the democracy and human
rights in Burma, since Burmese regime ignore the legitimate demand of the
people's representatives.

We, hereby demand Burmese regime by this Hunger Strike as follow:
1. Stop harassing Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from freedom of movement.
2. Release all political prisoners.
3. Allow real representatives of the people to convene democratic parliament.
4. Hand over the power to the legitimate parliament.

We also would like to request all governments around the world and
international community as follow:
1. Support NLD party to able to convene democratic parliament.
2. Give pressure to Burmese regime to allow NLD party to convene democratic
parliament.
3. Recognize democratic parliament that is going to form by real
representatives of the people as a legitimate government.
4. Cut diplomatic relation with Burmese regime.

We also would like to request United Nation as follow;
1. Give pressure to Burmese regime to allow NLD party to convene democratic
parliament.
2. Recognize democratic parliament that is going to form by real
representatives of the people as a legitimate government.
3. Intervene and protect that democratic parliament from possible danger
that is
     posted by Burmese regime.
4. Remove the seats of the Burmese regime in UN.
We also would like to request Burmese people inside Burma to participate in
this political movement and protect our legitimate people's democratic
parliament.
