NEWS - Junta's Emabassies Harassing

Junta's Emabassies Harassing, Inciting and Giving False Reports

Rangoon Post

August 28, 1998

More and more the Burmese embassies are inventing new ways to get at
the Burmese exiles. During the recent long demonstrations in Bangkok,
Thailand and Washington, D.C., U.S.A., the embassies have contacted the
authorities with apparent lies about the demonstrators. So far 10 have
been arrested in Thailand because of this and on the night of the 18th
in Washington, D.C., the Secret Service Police were called and were told
that their was a threatening note taped to the door. This has still not
been presented as evidence. The Secret Service has increased security
over their own expressed concern for the demonstrators weel being.

About 2 weeks ago, 2 motorcyclists raced by the demonstrators in
Bangkok and threw bottles, injuring some demonstrators.

August 28's New Light of Myanmar, the military controlled newspaper,
reported in an article against foreign embassies suspected of inciting
unrest in Burma also mentioned that their representatives do not incite.
The emabassy staff in Washington,D.C. has come out, primarily when no
American demonstrators were apparently present, and spoke statements at
the Burmese demonstrators and tried to incite them to do something.

Since they don't have guns and power outside their own country, people
such as Embassador Tin Winn must fabricate lies and try to create any
incident to get rid of the demonstrators.
