(1)		Means Sought for Industrial Production Development

		A seminar was held at Myanma Scientific and Technological Research
Department to help develop production of industrial zones on 4 September.
Resource persons read  nine papers at the seminar  and exchanged ideas and
technologies which should be applied in the practical field effectively.  The
briquette producing machines, punches, table punches, planes, marble slab
decoration machines, harvesters and threshers manufactured by the Ministry of
Industry-2 and the process of pulp production and bean milk production,
finished goods and raw materials of the Ministry of  Science and Technology
were displayed.

(2)		Military Attaches Visit Bo Myat Tun Bridge Project, Hlinethaya Industrial
			City

		Military Attaches of missions led by Defence, Army and Air Attache of Thai
Embassy Col Ongard Rattanawichai ,Dean of Military Attaches, visited Bo Myat
Tun Bridge Project in Nyaungdon Township, Ayeyawady Division, and construction
projects and factories in Hlinethaya Industrial City in Yangon Division on 4
September.  While in the industrial city, the military attaches, visited the
garment factory of Myanmar Yes Co. Max soft drink factory of Pin Ya
Manufacturing Co. Ltd. the garment factory of Myanmar apparel Co. Ltd. and Tai
Yi Shoe Factory.

(3)		State-owned Cinemas, Rice Mills to be Fully Privatized Under Auction
			System

		State-owned cinemas and rice mills will be fully privatized under auctioned
system and entrepreneurs wishing to run the businesses may submit their sealed
tenders to Privatization Commission at Project Appraisal and Progress
Reporting Department not later than 30 September at 4 pm.  All the related
facilitates of the businesses will be included in the sell-off, which will be
based on the floor price. If the former owner is among the highest bidders,
priority will be given to him.  The facility will be transferred to the
highest bidder 14 days after he had paid the full amount.  For more

(4)		Workshop on Membership  Development

		A workshop on membership development co-sponsored by Myanmar Industrialists
Association (MIA) and Singapore-based German Small and Skilled Industrialists
Association (ZDH) was held at the auditorium of Myanmar Chamber of Commerce
and Industry on 4 September.

(5)		Seminar on Export Market Promotion Concludes

		Seminar on Export Market Promotion, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce
and Singapore Trade Development Boards ended at the ministry on 4 September.
Basic methods  on international market management, market projects and
programmes, market assessment and opportunities, market penetration strategies
were discussed at the 10-day seminar in Yangon.

(6)		Sorita Transport Company Donates Cash to Orphanage  School

		Chairman Takeo Sorita and party of Sorita Transport Company Ltd of Yokohama,
Japan, donated cash to Parahita Tiger  ( Orphanage ) School of Border Areas
and National Races Development on Butayon Street on 3 September.  It is the
company's second donation to Parahita Tiger ( Orphanage )  School.

                           OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 4 SEPTEMBER

(A)		Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council  received Chairman
of Myanmar International Terminals Thilawar and Group Managing Director of
Hutchison Port Holdings, Hong Kong, Mr. John Meredith and party at Dagon
Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence.

(B)		Minister for Energy received Director Mr. Takuo Yamauchi and party of
Chubu Electric Power Co Inc of Japan at his office. They discussed electric
power.
