(1)		Myanmar Delegation Leaves for Thailand

		A five-member Myanmar delegation led by Minister for Commerce left Yangon on
7 September for Thailand to attend the first meeting of Myanmar-Thai Trade
Joint Commission to be held from 10 to 11 September at the invitation of the
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand and to attend
opening ceremony of Bangkok Gems Emporium 98 to be held from 9 to 12
September.

(2)		Domestic Tailoring Course No 1/98 Opens

		Domestic Tailoring Course No 1/98 supervised  by the Economic Group of the
National Working Committee for Women's Affairs opened at the Cottage Industry
School in Bahan Township, Yangon on 7 September. Altogether 211 trainees are
attending the course which will last three months.

(3)		Natural Disaster Prevention Management Course No 1/98 Opens in  Rakhine
State

		Natural Disaster Prevention Management Course No 1/98 opened in the meeting
hall of Rakhine State Peace and Development Council at Sittwe on 7 September.
The one-week course is being attended by 33 trainee.
  
                          OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 7 SEPTEMBER

(A)		 Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission received General Manager Mr.
Tsunekiyo Endo and party of Yasuda Fire & Marine Insurance Co. Ltd. of Japan
at his office.  They discussed prospects for cooperation in insurance.
	
(B)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission received Economist  Mr.
Wolfgang Perner and party of Zarembo Invest SA (Myanmar Representation) at his
office.  They discussed matters related to investment in Myanmar.

(C)		Minister for Industry-1 received Managing Director Mr. John Paul and
party of Yangon-based Office of South-Asia Economic & Technical Corporation
(Group) of the People's Republic of China at his office.

(D)		Minister for Finance and Revenue received a Japanese delegation of the
Ministry of Finance led by Professor Mr. Takehiko Kondo of Ritsumeikan
University of Japan and General Manager Mr. R Wiegand of Fritz Werner Company
at his office.  They discussed monetary and financial matters and cooperation
on mutually beneficial basis.
