Press Release No. 11/89 of Myanmar (r)

This posting again is a feverish defence for the SPDC and the
embassador's attempt to please his boss.

Who are those 20,000 people that were made to rally behind the SPDC?
Look at all of them. Those are the people who have given bribe to all
the generals and ministers under the SLORC and SPDC government. Some of
them are still working as agents who would arrange for (business)
meetings with the SPDC generals and the ministers for fees. ( Note: The
SLORC's generals and the ministers were so corrupted that the
14 Lt.Gens of the SLORC had to be sacked in November 1997 and the SLORC
itself was re-named as SPDC.)

Under the SLORC/SPDC, many colleges and universities are still closed
while the children of military personals are continuing their education
in their own miltary schools, colleges and institutes in Burma without
interruption.

Also, children of Burmese military attaches and ambassadors posted in
foreign countries (e.g America, U.K, Germany, Australia, Japan,
Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand) are studying in schools, colleges and
universities there. Today, many university graduates in Burma remained
still unempoyed.

During SLORC's reign, many female graduates including nurses were
exported out of Burma as house-maids to foreign countries so that the
Burmese Embassies in foreign countries could collect income tax and
become self-financing from the tax collected. Today, ordinary people in
general are poorer and have suffered the most as the price of all
essential food items have sky-rocketed since the military take over in
1988. The troubles that the military regime have caused to the vast
majority of people in Burma are too much be mentioned in few words.
There is no way that any ordinary citizens will support the SPDC
government. Never.

> The present Government, the State Peace and Development
> Council, is not a party government. In fact, the SPDC is the
> military Government and is a sort of caretaker government and is just
> laying foundations for emerging disciplined democracy.
>
> Due to unswerving efforts of the Government, 17 national
> armed groups returned to legal fold and are actively participating in
> building a peaceful, modern and developed nation. Today, the people

>
> The NLD, ignoring the achievements of the Government and the
> interest of the nation and the people, could not stop confrontational
> stance to seize the State power. Whenever opportune comes the NLD
> tries to destabilize the nation by whatever means. It is learnt that
> the NLD, in its attempts to disrupt stability of the State, issued
> declaration on convening a Hluttaw (Parliament) without authority.
> In fact, it is insulting and opposing the genuine wish of the entire
> people. The declaration of the NLD is totally in contravention of
> Myanmar law. West block media disseminated false news and rumours

> undermining peace and stability. Moreover, they expressed their

> national peace and is marching towards flourishing of the disciplined
> democracy. They reiterated their commitments in further cooperating
> with the Government to achieve peace and development.
>
> The unilateral declaration has also become a motive for the
> mass rally against the misconduct of NLD. On 24 September, over
> 20,000 local businessmen, entrepreneurs, merchants, traders,
> shopkeepers and ordinary citizens rallied in Yangon in support of the
> Government's effort to promote peace and stability in the country.
> The mass rally stressed that the business community could flourish

> could effect Myanmar's economic growth. They rejected the
> confrontational approach of the NLD, which would disturb the peace
