(1)		International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University to be Opened on 9
			December
		
 A meeting was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs to coordinate
arrangements for the opening ceremony of International Theravada Buddhist
Missionary University.  Arrangements are under way to organize a grand opening
of the university on 9 December, 1998.  Invitations have been extended to
trainees from foreign nations and guests to attend the ceremony.

(2)		Musical Show to Mark World AIDS Day
		 
December 1, 1998, is World AIDS Day. The motto for this year is " Force for
Change: World AIDS Day Campaign with Young People". Myanmar Young Crusaders
with the assistance of UNAIDS will present a musical show with the
accompaniment of Iron Cross Music Band at the National Theatre at 6 pm on 1
December. Admission is free.

(3)		Deputy Minister Leaves for Nepal
		Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Officer on Special Duty left
Yangon 30 November to attend the World Buddhist Summit to be held in Nepal
from 1 to 2 December. The summit is sponsored by the Development Council in
Lumbini Park in Nepal.

(4)		Deputy DG Leaves for Bangkok
		
Deputy Director-General of Department of Archaeology left Yangon on 30
November  to attend a work shop on tourism and preservation of cultural
heritage sponsored by SPAFA under South-East Asia Education Minister
Organization (SEAMEO) to be held in Bangkok from 30 November to 7 December.

(5)		Minister Receives Officials of Unocal and Mitsui
		 Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission received Project Manager of
Unocal Asia Pacific Venture Ltd Mr Peter M Longerich and Assistant General
Manager of Mitsui & Co  Ltd (Yangon) Mr. Y Sasaki at his office on 30
November, afternoon.

(6)		Mayor of Ui-Wang Calls on Mayor of Yangon
		Mayor of Ui-Wang of the Republic of Korea Mr. Kung Sang Sup and party called
on Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Mayor of Yangon U Ko Lay at
his office 30 November, afternoon.

(7)		Deputy Minister Meets Orbis Officials 
		Deputy Minister for Health received Dr. Douglas Frederick and Ms. Carol
Adlam of Orbis International who called at his office on 30 November
afternoon.  Members of Orbis will conduct medical check-ups and treatments on
children who suffer eye diseases at Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital
(Yangon) till 5 December 1998.
