We, students in Bagkok have demonsrtated in front of Burmese Embassy at =
the 11th anniversary of Burmese Human Rights day. More than 40 students =

Statement on 11th Anniversary of Burmese Human Rights Day.




Date: 12th/ March/ 1999.

Today is the another mark (symbol) of oppression and violating Human =
Rights on Burmese people by Military regime for decades. On this day of =
11 years ago, a student leader Mr. Phone Maw was killed in a clash =
between student activists and riot police, during a demonstration in =
Rangoon Institute of Technology. It was the beginning of the 8888 =
generation students and people's revolution for democracy and Human =
Rights against cruel Military Regime.=20

During the last year, the regime's violation on Hunan Rights has been =
dramatically increased as follow;


    1.. They have rejected democratically elected NLD party's legitimate =
demand to hold democratic parliament.

    2.. They have arrested more than 1,000 NLD members including 195 =
elected representatives.
   =20
   =20
    3.. They are forcing NLD members to resign from their party.
   =20
   =20
    4.. They are refusing to recognize CRPP (Committee representing =
people parliament) that is formed by empowerment by 251 of NLD's 459 =
surviving elected representatives.

   =20
    5.. They are still arresting Democracy and Human Rights activists =
and even sentence 52 years imprisonment to an activist.

   =20
    6.. They are using force labour more than before.
   =20
   =20
    7.. They are doing force relocations on thousands of villagers more =
than before.

    8.. They are still violating each and every Human Right mentioned in =
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

We, therefore, hereby demand the Burmese regime as follow;


    1.. Stop that all Human Rights violations.

    2.. Stop arresting political activist and student activists.

   =20
    3.. Release all political prisoners immediately and unconditionally.

    4.. Open all Universities and schools.
   =20
   =20
    5.. Hanover the power to the CRPP, led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

We also would like to request international community as follow;


    1.. Give more pressure on the military regime by embargoes and =
sanctions.

    2.. Stop recognizing illegitimate military regime.
