NGO STATEMENTS ON BURMA TO THE CHR

NGO STATEMENTS ON BURMA TO THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS

The unprecedented strength of the resolution on Burma at this year's
session of the Commission on Human Rights is due in no small degree to the
presence at the Commission of a strong delegation from the Burmese
democracy movement, including several women and representatives of
non-Burman ethnic groups.

The following postings contain a number of their statements to the
Commission. These are arranged by agenda item.

Subsequent postings will contain other documents -- the report of the
Special Rapporteur on Myanmar (already posted a few weeks ago, but not
everyone will have seen it) and other rapporteurs. The URL of the Report
of the ILO Commission of Inquiry into forced labour in Burma, a report
cited in the resolution and several of the statements, will also be given.

The resolution itself and the reply by the Burmese Ambassador in Geneva
have already been posted.
