Burma, Laos and Thailand agree on anti-drugs action

Ministers from Thailand, Laos and Burma have held talks in Bangkok aimed at
co-ordinating action to combat the illegal production and trafficking of
drugs.

A statement referred to the social damage drug abuse could cause in the
three countries and pledged to step up co-operation.

It said the three states hoped to establish programmes by next year for
monitoring the effectiveness of their joint campaign against the drugs trade
and urged the international community to provide technical and financial
support for their efforts.
