Chinese Premier Meets with Myanmar Guest

BEIJING (June 8) XINHUA - Premier Zhu Rongji, in a
meeting here today with Khin Nyunt, the Secretary of
Myanmar's State Peace and Development Council, said that
China and Myanmar should strengthen their cooperation and
the friendship initiated by the elder generation of
leaders of
the two countries and that there is no historic problem
and
conflict of interest between the two.
China is satisfied with the development of bilateral
cooperation in politics, the economy, trade, and culture,
he
said. He praised Myanmar's adherence to the One China
policy and its support for the peaceful reunification of
China.
China and Myanmar are both developing countries that are
faced with the arduous tasks of safeguarding peace and
building the country, he said, and consolidating
bilateral
relations is in their interest.
Khin Nyunt said that the purpose of his visit is to
further
bilateral relations, promote two-way trade, and to learn
from
China's experience.
He thanked China for its support for Myanmar's economic
development for a long period of time.

Chinese Defense Minister Meets with Myanmar Officials

BEIJING (June 8) XINHUA - Defense Minister Chi Haotian
met with Myanmar's First Secretary of the State Peace and
Development Council Khin Nyunt here today to discuss
bilateral relations between the armed forces of China and
Myanmar.
China and Myanmar are good neighbors an good friends
and should keep their friendship forever, Chi told his
guest
and expressed his satisfaction with the bilateral
cooperation
in various fields and promised to make an effort to
further
promote cooperation.
Myanmar places great importance on its friendship and
cooperation with China and the current relations between
the two nations and two military forces are doing very
well,
Khin Nyunt said.
