Subject: NEWS- China to Expand Trade Cooperation with Myanmar

NOTE: How do you expect balance the trade deficit when Burma continually
purcahses weapons and aircraft that it can not afford and has not yet
been able to pay for in the first place.
China just may take-over and absorb Burma as a part of China as China
did to many many groups before.

China to Expand Trade Cooperation with Myanmar

               Xinhua
               08-JUN-99

BEIJING (June 8) XINHUA - Chen Xinhua, Chinese
vice-minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation,
said today that China is willing to expand mutually
beneficial
economic and trade cooperation with Myanmar.

Chen made the remark during talks with David Abel,
minister
of the Chairman's Office of Myanmar's State Peace and
Development Council, and minister of Commerce Kyaw
               Than.

Chen said China places great importance on economic and
trade cooperation with Myanmar, and will approach the
imbalance in trade involving the two nations in a
positive
               manner.

Abel said Myanmar wishes to further promote economic and
               trade cooperation with China.

The trade volume between the two countries stood at 162
million U.S. dollars during the first four months of the
year,
up 8.6 percent on last year's same period.

China has established various forms of economic
cooperation with Myanmar, including contract projects,
joint
               investments and operations.

Chinese companies have invested in 21 projects in
Myanmar, with total investments through the end of last
year
standing at 8.1 million U.S. dollars.

An economic and technological cooperation agreement
signed by the two countries on Monday is expected to
boost
               bilateral trade ties.
