Subject: Yaw Creek Bridge on Yangon Sittway Highway commissioned 

Yaw Creek Bridge on Yangon Sittway Highway commissioned 
into service in Myebon Township
	
YANGON, 14 July-Yaw Creek Bridge on Yangon-Sittway Highway in Myebon 
Township, Rakhine State, was commissioned into service this morning at the 
pandal near the bridge.


Chairman of the Work Committee for Development. of Border Areas and National 
Races Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin 
Nyunt delivered an address.


In his address, the Secretary-l expressed pleasure for the emergence of one 
more bridge that will bring significant benefits to the national brethren of 
Rakhine State as the Yaw Creek Bridge was opened today; and the bridge is 
included in the projects the government has given priority for progress of 
Rakhine State. The project . includes building of 10 major bridges and 800 
minor bridges; and Yaw Creek Bridge is included in the major bridges.


The bridge is a main link on-Yangon-Sittway Highway and will ensure easy 
access to major towns of other States and Divisions from Minbya through Minbu 
in Magway Division .


The 1,100 feet long bailey-typed bridge with steel frames was built at a cost 
of US $ 0.5 million and K 580 million.

In addition to Yaw Creek Bridge, other large bridges such as Min Creek Bridge 
and Kissapanadi Bridge, which are over 2,000 feet long, 1,300-foot Ramong 
Bridge, 900-foot Dalet Creek Bridge and Maei Creek Bridge have been built or 
are being built in Rakhine State.

Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt presented gifts to the project engineer.

Commander Maj-Gen Aung Htwe and Minister Maj-Gen Saw Tun formally opened the 
bridge.

Maj-Gen Saw Tun unveiled the plaque making the opening of the bridge.

The bridge is 1,100 feet long and 10 feet and nine inches wide. It can 
withstand up to 20-ton loads.

YANGON, 14 July-Technical presentation on Basic Wireless Telephone Services 
of Hutchinson Telecom International was held at International Business Centre 
this afternoon, attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development 
Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

Also present on the occasion were Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung, 
Minister at the Prime Minister?s Office Brig-Gen Lun Maung, guests, officials 
of Hutchinson Telecom International.

Technical Director Mr Mike Cavill made a speech.


Project Manager Mr Stanley Ba Oh reported on wireless telephone services and 
telephoning with the use of Combo system.


The Secretary-2 and party made trial calls with the wireless telephones.


Officials replied queries of those present.
