Secretary-2 attends third graduation at Central Cooperative College,
Yangon Cooperative Degree College (Regional College)

       YANGON, 24 July-The third graduation of Central Cooperative College and
Yangon Cooperative Degree College (Regional College) was held at the hall of
the Institute of Nursing this afternoon, attended by Secretary-2 of the State
Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

    Also present on the occasion were Minister at the State Peace and
Development Council Chairman's Office Lt-Gen Min Thein, Minister for
Cooperatives U Aung San, Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin,
Minister at the Prime Minister's Office U Than Shwe, Deputy Minister for
Science and Technology U Hlaing Win, Deputy Minister for Labour Brig-Gen Win
Sein, heads of departments and enterprises under the Ministry of Cooperatives,
the principals of Central Cooperative College and Yangon Cooperative Degree
College (Regional College), faculty members, students and relatives.

    Minister U Aung San said it is a day on which cooperatives colleges 
nurture and produce economists in accord with modem techniques and also an 
auspicious day of obtaining new generation youths capable of managing 
economic 
enterprises for the State.

    He said Central Cooperatives College, Yangon, Mandalay and Sagaing
Cooperative Colleges produced 1,321 diploma-holders and 187 certified
accountants. Cooperative Colleges were established with the aim of producing
economists.

    The minister spoke on conducting diploma courses and accounting course and
urged the graduates to make efforts to contribute towards market-oriented
economic system while discharging duties in economic fields.

    He said the government is now endeavouring for emergence of a peaceful
modern developed nation in harmony and urged them to serve duties at the
respective roles with the application of the subjects they learned.

    The minister then presented prizes to students of Central Cooperative
College and Yangon Cooperative Degree College (Regional College).

    Director-General of Cooperatives Department U Maung Hti and officials
conferred diplomas on the students.

    Altogether 138 graduates received Diplomas in Business Management, 
Banking, Finance and Insurance and Enterprise Development and l 19 Diplomas 
in Business Accounting and Marketing Management.
