DHAKA (Aug. 3) XINHUA - The Bangladeshi government
Tuesday decided to set up a jetty on the Naf River at
Teknaf
to facilitate and expand export and import of goods to
and
from Myanmar under the bilateral border trade agreement
signed between the two countries in 1994.

The decision was made at an inter-ministerial meeting
with
Commerce and Industries Minister Tofail Ahmed in the
chair,
the national news agency BSS reported.

Besides, a number of decisions to improve the
infrastructure
and services for speedy and uninterrupted movement of
goods by road-way and water-way between the two
neighboring countries were also made at the meeting.

A five-member committee has been formed to monitor the
               smooth implementation of the decisions.

The aim of setting up the jetty is to increase bilateral
border
trade, especially Bangladesh's exports to Myanmar, the
commerce and industries minister said, asking the
concerned agencies to complete the work as soon as
               possible.

However, the report did not mention when the work of
setting
               up the jetty would begin.
