9999 ACTION SUPPORT

Eleven years after the first nation-wide democracy uprising on 8.8.88,
the Burmese activists across the world have reason to believe that there
is a very high chance of another such- known simply as 9.9.99 action- to
take place in Burma on September 1999.

Over the 11 years, Burmese people have never given up their hopes of one
day witnessing Burma's re-emergence as a democratic nation gifted with
peace, freedom, justice, and human rights. Even their silence over the
11 years speaks more than words can say about the stifling condition in
the country. Having tried every other way to reach the same goal, there
is nothing left to do but for us, as people of Burma, to rise up in the
massive nation- wide civil disobedience.

Therefore, Burmese students and political activists in Canada along with
Canadians who support Burma have started to gear up to support the
upcoming 9999 action.
The 9th of September 1999 is the time that we are going to express our
strong will to fight in unity, until the final victory. This is also the
time to ask every supporters of democracy and freedom around the world
to stand behind this righteous People's
movement and make it a resounding and final protest against the reigning
tyranny of a forgotten nation.
