Yellow flowers, Balloons, at Burma 9999 Protest

A coalition of 200 activists from Burma will hold a demonstration to mark
the 9th day of their sit-in in front of the Burmese embassy (Cnr Sathorn
and Pan Rd) at 11 a.m. in Bangkok today (Thurs, 9.9.99).

The National Solidarity League, an umbrella organization of 9 groups will
be joined by the Overseas National Students Organization of Burma (ONSOB),
Overseas Karen Refugee Service Organization (OKRSO) and Overseas Mon
National Students Organization (OMNSO) and Asean-based colleagues to hand
out yellow balloons and yellow flowers to passersby.

The National Solidarity League comprises the Burmese Students Association
(BSA), Former Members of the ABSDF Student Army (FMASA), Arakan League for
Democracy (ALD), Karen Solidarity Organization (KSO), All Burma Young Monks
Union (ABYMU), Rakhine Patriotic Literature Club (RPLC), National League
for Democracy-Liberated Area (NLD-LA), 8888 New Blood Comrades, All Burma
Basic Education Students Union (ABBESU).

After the event, several participants will proceed to a seminar on East
Timor at Chulalongkorn University to express their solidarity with their
East Timorese colleagues.
